[ATM] Small mirror cells, Pivot bolt or spring loaded bolts?
I am gogin to build a new mirror cell for my 8" Meade dob, using Gary
Seronik's design from an old S&T article. That design has a center
pivto bolt, and 3 other bolts to make adjustments with. I've never
seen a design like this, does it work well? It would seem to me that
it might be possible to tighten the adjustment bolts too much, and
produce strain over the center pivot bolt. I could see it straining
the mirror, or maybe breaking the mirror cell. Is this something to
worry about?
Would it be better to omit the pivto bolt, and spring load the three
adjustment bolts? If so, what kind of springs should I use, and how
long should they be?
I also plan on adding a fan over one of the vent holes.
Other suggestions?
thanks
jjb
