RE: [ATM] dew heater ..Resistive Paint

Even a micron thickness of copper would give a very low resistance across
the mirror..

I would think that you would want a material of much lower conductivity than
copper, aluminum, silver, etc.... More like a semi-conductor than a
conductor... A material that would give a resistance of 50 ohms or so when
covering the back of the mirror at a few thousandth of an inch in thickness.
I think that copper etc would give resistance in the low milliohms range.

Can you evaporate pre doped silicon?

OK, now you guys got me thinking bad thoughts.... :)

If I were to super glue some contact wires to the back of an optic, then
evaporate a hefty amount of Copper onto the backside of the mirror, would it
work as a dew heater?

The copper layer would end up pretty thin, which might be an advantage as it
would increase the resistance some what.

I wonder if I can evaporate stainless steel.. Seems to have a pretty high
receptivity value, and then there is Platinum, with even higher
resistivity...

Could be an interesting experiment....
