You can do that and then etch away copper as in printed circuit board
manufacturing so that copper layer will be transformed into a very long
zig-zag strip increasing its total resistance. Since very low voltages are
involved you may etch very narrow lines so that for all practical purposes
heat distribution on the mirror back will be very uniform.
You can produce more than one strip if required and connect them in parallel
to adjust total resistance to the available voltage source.
In combination with Don's circuit this may be very elegant solution since
copper will be in best possible contact with the glass.
