The Amateur Telescope Maker's list (ATM list) is a gathering of amateur
telescope makers on the Internet. The ATM mailing list allows individuals to
exchange ideas, seek or provide help with problems, and to further the hobby
of telescope making. This list is non-commercial, meaning we don't allow
advertisements of any kind.
The members of the ATM list are generally very helpful and very friendly. In
fact, we feel this is the friendliest gathering of individuals on the 'Net.
For more information, visit the ATM list FAQ at
http://www.starastronomy.org/TelescopeMaking/faq/
The rules (which are posted in the FAQ with more explanation and detail) are
simple:
1. Keep postings on-topic - you are expected to keep your postings within the
range of expected topics. See the FAQ for guidelines and
acceptable/unacceptable topics.
2. Keep quoted text to a minimum - when responding to other member's messages,
quote only relevant sections of their message.
3. Make subject headers concise and accurate.
4. Keep your signature brief.
5. Consideration - always be considerate of the other members on the list.
Remember, you are speaking to real people here, not computers. Also, this is
a very international list. Avoid bias, racial or ethnic slurs,
country-oriented jokes, and so forth.
6. The use of profanity is not acceptable on this list.
7. Spamming, postings of advertisements, and so forth are not tolerated on
this list.
Some legalese...the list is provided and maintained by volunteers. Membership
in the list is by mutual consent. The administrators and moderators make no
claims about the validity or usefulness of information on the list. Posters
are responsible for anything they post. Posts will be archived and may be
made available on the web or in other formats.
