The outer zone is the long one, thus a have a central hole in the mirror
(and hill on the lap). (Sorry, I forgot to specify.)   I machine polished
the mirror for a while half  TOT and half MOT with the two zones as a
result.

I suspect that using the full lap in a chordal stroke combined with a lot of
pressing might do the trick  That will work the hill on the tool against the
hill on the mirror.  Then back to 1/3 COC to finish off.
