Re: ATM pitch mold, opinions needed

I think I have used many of the ways to make a pitch lap, here is
my experience...
- the "Texereau" method of pouring small rectangles that you cut and
glue to the tool works well, but is slow, tedious and easily messy.
- the method whilch consists in pouring the lap in one piece then
cutting with either a bar or a welding iron is fast, less messy but the
channels are not quite nice, tend to close when pressing...
As a submethod of this I have tried to put crushed pitch then
melt it. I know some succeeded in this way, my try was close to
  a disaster.
- the mold method (I got mine at "perfect pitch lap" web site) has
the best of both worlds: fast and nice lap. It is however possible
to badly mess up things if there is not enough release agent at
the mold's surface. I heard a bit of dish washing soap fises this.

I cannot compare different brands of molds, I have only one, but
I would say: Yes go for it! It is well worth it.

Happy pitch pouring >;-))
