The 1/4 micron diamond grit won't do anything good to the mirror although it
may actually start grinding again.
The best time for that grit would have been as a playaround at the last
stage of the grinding.
I'll note that anything less than about 2 micron tends to be extremely
sensitive to lubricant content on the interface between the mirror and tool.
