Re: ATM bearings, part II
Have you seen the size of a 2" pillow block bearing? It's 8" across the base. I was looking into making a GEM with a 100 - 150 lb. load rating and was thinking of using 3" pillow blocks and shafts until I saw the size, and weight, of the pillow block. It was huge and 12" across the base. I haven't entirely given up the idea of making my own GEM, but I will probably machine mounts for the bearings to keep the overall size of the mount reasonable.
