You need to be able to rotate the nut for the threads.
If you want 0 lash then spring it to one side with a firm pair of springs on
the axis or by clamping in a plastic bushing with the springs.
Making the nut long in the direction of the threading will reduce the forces
on the threads as will a rod extending to the end of the thread to keep
alignment. Let the bearing for the rod be on the nut side of the rod and
you won't have any clearance problems.
