I think you'll get more definite answers if the list knew:

	1) What size and type of scope?
	2) Portable, semi-portable, or pier?  Photo or visual?
	3) Budget
	4) More specifics of the design and how much machining
you're willing to do/pay for.

Answers to these questions will tend to point to bearings.
