A 16" diameter by 1" thick piece cost me about $120US not long ago.
Thick glass can be a bit expensive in some areas as those areas may not be
using such thick glass for anything.  If so, it may be desirable to take a
vacation to a nearby country where thick glass is used and get it there.
Over there in Europe, you have countries like we have States here in the US.
If I lived in a small town far from some big city, thick glass would
probably be rather difficult to get locally.
You may also want to try and find glass casting places or artists that work
with glass for some thicker stock.
