Re: ATM pitch lap woes--help appreciated
I've been holding the class in a garage lately and the last few weeks have
been rather cool for the polishers. I've been taking to doing a warm press
on the mirrors before the polishing gets started and with good work, the
laps do tend to stay warm enough to where they work fine. The warm press is
done with a pan of water near boiling and the tool suspended over the bottom
of the pan in the water for about 30 seconds while the surface of the lap
gets warmed. The lap is then quickly pressed on the warm mirror and work is
started. It seems that the warm hands keep everything working well with no
problems.
