Re: ATM motorized scope?

Hi Bob,

I have to agree with you on mels stuff. I am in the computer field and have
developed electronics for the cubscout's pinewood durby races. His seem
simplistic and well thought out. I am not into CCD imaging at this point,
and the scope I am building/desiging, wont be used for that either. This
scope also has to be portable as it will go to the campgrounds with my
family during the summer, and around with me. I believe I am going to
create a simple system that will simply move the alt and az via a joy stick.
and not use a tracking system at this point. I will be happy with simply
moving the scope as needed with a simple joystick, (left right up down) for
viewing. focus it in, and give it a tap up/down left/right to keep it in
the eye. Tracking will be nice for a larger scope. My scope in production
will still be an 8" truss scope. I consider my first scope a prototype and
this new scope a continuing lesson. I will save the tracking system for the
16" scope when I have the time and money to build it. The 16" will have all
the bells on it, webcam, tracking, manual tracking. Also, It will be
controlled and viewed remotely. I will have the ability to put the scope
outside when it is very cold out, or to buggy, and run it remotly while Im
inside, or even have the images go directly to a website for live images.
Maybe even set up a web application to let visitors, such as cubscouts, view
and control the scope for thier own project. All in due time. enough
rambling and dreaming, time to plan tonights viewing.

look up, look out, look back in time.
