For a difference of .002" over the surface, you are doing an excellent job
of measuring the surface error to begin with.
Run those numbers through TEX and you will see how good you really are.
Please note that I consider anything over 1/10th wavefront error to be
acceptable and anything over 1/30th wavefront error to be wonderful for an
optical surface.
