ATM A Fantastic base for mirror grinding
("atm@shore.net")
Hello ATMers, maybe I am over-reacting but I have come across a great
material for a base to
hold a mirror for polishing or grinding. This is a rubber or synthetic based
mat that has a mesh that is
resilient and comes back to form after being released. It acts like foam but
it has the potential to stick
like glue to smooth surfaces, both slick surfaces and semi-coarse surfaces.
I have placed this mat,
or a piece of this mat, on a piece of wood and placed my mirror on top. You
can push as hard as you want
the mat or mirror won't move. Guy's this stuff is available at Lowes or
Home Depot in 24"x 60" or 120"
rolls. It is sold as cabinet liners, it is non-adhesive, but has a tacky
feel to it. The brand name is
PERFECT Liner plus. Believe me this stuff is great. You can put a small
plank of wood on it an sand
the plank with a grinder or orbital sander, and it won't move.. I have also
double the mat up and it sticks
to itself. I do not know the life of this stuff or how it holds up to
water, but a roll is less that 10 bucks, about
2ftx10ft.. Go look at this stuff, It's pretty neat stuff.. Maybe I'm to
excited about this crap but I had to pass
it on .... check it out!! RUSS
