Be careful about just shortening the upper assembly. Elegant, effective
design occurs when all elements work together. When you shorten the upper
assembly, you'll get more flex in your two struts. What type of struts are
they and what are the dimensions? Where is your pivot point in relation to
the overall length?

Do you mean shroud or baffle? The best way to determine baffle size is to
look through the mounted focuser from various angles and determine the size
of the baffle you need opposite the focuser. You can reduce its size by
baffling the inside of the focuser.
