We ATMers rather make the cell to fit the mirror instead of the reverse, so
I guess there is no definite answer to your question (if I got it
correctly).
If the mirror is too thin, you will need a copmlicate cell to support it
but it will
equalize thermally very quickly (let aside difficulties in figuring), if it
is too
thick it will take ages to equalise but a simple 3 point support will be
sufficient.
The "best" lies somewhere between these extremes...
as many things in life the answer is a matter of compromise and of
what the priorities/requirements/desires are.
