ATM TDE related to polishing duration?

Having had considerable trouble with preventing/curing TDE in the past, I've recently tried the some different approaches; namely, extending polishing sessions to at least two hours. While this proceedure did not fix the edge problems, it nevertheless resulted in a significant improvement.

I could speculate endlessly as to why this may have occurred, but it just might be, in my case, that polishing duration is correlated to TDE severity. In other words, more of the former is related to less of the latter.I can't help but wonder if the TDE would have been all but eliminated if I had polished for an additional hour. To be sure, this was not an anomoly, for the same effect occurred on three different mirrors, all with severe TDE.

Any ideas?
