ATM CAD program, cheap or free?

Hi,

I am beginning a project to make a travel scope similar tothe one Gary Seronik described
in Sky & Telescope, December 2001.  I may have to have most of the saw and drill press
work done by someone living at a distance, so I will need accurate drawings.  I'm not much
of a draftsman.  The prospect of making drawings for even as simple a project as this
makes me rather nervous.  If there is a CAD program available for low cost that could
handle the drawings for such a project, I would sure like to know about it.  I know CAD
programs take some learning, but if it's not too bad, I think I would rather do that than
struggle with pencil and paper.

I don't need to be able to do gears or pipes or electrical, just simple structural shapes
and the assembled scope.
