You misunderstood me. I'm not suggesting to do this permanently.
I just wanted to say that it is possible (and quite easy for everyone)
to see how images in real 1/10 wavefront telescope SHOULD look like.
The star test in a such stopped down scope is real revelation. Small
aperture makes atmosphere effects much less significant, and eyepieces
really like resulting long f/ratio. It will be next to impossible to
get the 8 incher to perform to the same level of perfection, but at 
least you have a goal.

So, you don't really have to wait a lifetime to see thru 1/20 wave 
masterpiece.
