RE: ATM Design advice for tracking Dobs

I too have been planning on using Mel's excellent Dob Driver design, and
I have been wondering about the gear reduction.

I know I can get 100:1 reduction gearboxes for a reasonable price but I
doubt
that they are 'precision' gearboxes. What sort of requirments are there
on
the gearbox ?

Also I have noticed 'epicyclic reduction bearings' which are meant to be
used
for providing multi-turn radio tuner dials. These are available in 6:1
and 10:1, so
a pair would give the required ratio. Any thoughts if this would be a
good idea ?
