You got it.  

you don't need film to try it out.  it will DEFINATELY work on "B" setting,
perhaps, on others as well.  If film -is- in the camera, put the lens cap
on.  If your first attempt fails, press the spool release button on the
bottom (like you are going to rewind the film) and cock the lever (to take
another picture- same as double exposure technique).  

And, try again!  (you will know you succeeded, when you can't see out of the
viewfinder.  That's because the mirror is blocking it!  Then, slowly press
button to take picture. )
