Re: [ATM] Breathe through lightpath
just for kicks...on a cold night with your trusted Schmidt-Cass...focus on
a star, notice the quality of the image...then rack the image out of focus
until you have a huge "washer"...continue to watch the washer and do not
move your head. You will soon start to see amoebas and parameciums begin
to ooze in the washer image...the whole image will soon begin to swim
around. Yep, your 98.6F head is heating the colder
scope/primary/diagonal.
mother nature puts all sorts of obstacles in our astronomical viewing
paths...fog, dew, heat, cold, atmosphere, layers of air currents moving in
all directions, daily temp changes as day moves to night to day...and here
on the east coast we even have a few critters named mosquitoes who like to
crowd around the eyepiece.
just do your best and don't expect perfection. the same conditions that
make Earth a nice place to live tend to hinder our views of the night sky.
k sir rah.

Re: [ATM] Breathe through lightpath
Forgive me: Breath mints.
Forgive me: So that why they turn blue.
Actually, many people use a cloth shroud.
Still, a warm hand under the optical path
or a warm rock under the optical surely
does the same thing.
But the same can be said for the front of
any optical system.
