Re: [ATM] Cassegrain Secondary Magnification
Both the Stellafane site and the RTMC sites have a photo of my
big refractor. Got the RTMC merit Award in '98 and the
Stellafane Award in 2003 with it.
There ain't no way that you're gonna motorize that big scope tho!
It is purely a yank it around type scope. Interesting thing is
that due to its size, you can handhold the eyepiece end and
smoothly track something in the sky.
As to the Cass design, all that I've seen is the one website on
it some time ago and noted that it didn't have any part9icular
specifics on the scope. I don't even remember if it had some
lenses to correct for aberrations along the light path but if it
does, they are just a image correction system and there's a lot
of literature about that describes sucyh systems. The NASA ADA
website has a number of magazines that they track and publish
articles from. An intelligent search will proovide some
interesting insights to corrector designs. You may also end up
seeing something else that will be a lot nicer to build.
