The problem is more that going from a hyperboloid down to a
paraboloid often just doesn't happen that way.  Often the outer
zzones go spherical, leaving a hole in the center.  Also you
often end up with a bit of rolled edge to go with that.  If you
get to a paraboloid then you will be lucky.  Best to go back to
something that a paraboloid can be made from than to reduce the
stroke and get something wierd.  Then again, if a 1/4th wave
surface is good enough for you, go for it.  I prefere 1/20th wae
surfaces before I consider a surface complete.
