[ATM] re collapsible poles

could you not turn down some aluminium sections so they fit into the 
ends of each pole?
That way the poles can be as short as you want with one or more joiners 
to make up the lengths.
I realise that this gives more things to misplace or leave behind but 
with a few screws and elastic cord they could be kept together like tent 
frames.
