Hmm.  A 10" f/7 is a pretty long scope.  I don't think
a straight-tube design like the Teleport will work
well, nor would a conventional truss design because it
would have such a high center of gravity.  How about a
double-truss design (like the Palomar 200") with an
upper and lower truss meeting at an intermediate ring
holding the altitude bearings?  That would keep the
length of the longer truss members to something like
3', which should be manageable.  If you used aluminum
angle irons instead of tubes they could nest
compactly.

I think R.F. Royce used to have a scope like this
described on his website, but I can't find it now.
