[ATM] Foucault Tester

I have a substantialy made Leitz antique mechanical microscope stage. While not cosmetically perfect, it is great mechanically. both slides operate smoothly by one inch dia. brass wheels,and slides have scales calibrated in MM with verniers permitting readings to one tenth MM.There is a thumbscrew clamp to attach it to a 10mm max stage. Might this form the basis for a Foucault tester?
