Thanks everyone for your advice.  I found something in 2007 where the green scouring side of a sponge was used.  This was effective in removing the Cerium.  Upon close inspection with a 10x loupe there were small scratches very close to the edge.  I'm sure they will polish away.  With the bevel perfectly clean, I have put finger nail polish around the bevel.  When all is done, I will dissolve it away with acetone.
