Since you're worrying about it for no necessary reason other than
it being tidy, why not grab some newsprint and glue it to a board
and polish up the bevel with that?  The really olden times, paper
was used as well as cloth to do polishing of glass.  They would
impregnate the stuff with something, including pitch to make it
adhere to the tool and polish away.
