Ken,

That sounds very interesting. Could you describe the process in more detail? Size/shape/material of tool, method of grinding/polishing, etc.

Would the spherical reference need to be the same size as the flat (or larger)? 

Would the Foucault be set up with the test flat redirecting the image at 45° for a double pass? Am I on the right track here?

How good does the spherical reference need to be?
