England has got three villages called Houghton and they're all
pronounced differently :)

That said, my opinion is that most brits looking at that
word would pronounce it orton, as in bought or brought. Most towns
ending in oughton seem to be pronounced ..orton.

But then Okeford Fitzpaine in Dorset is pronounced "fippeny ockford."

Lovely language, innit?
