Of course, while comparing our apples to our oranges, we should
keep in mind that all the spot diagrams on the various links
are using quite different wavelengths. I am not sure what
drives the decision making process, but I always thought peaks
corresponding to UBVRI or some kind of numerically regular
intervals in the visible, etc would be selected. Alternatively,
I thought maybe some peak for human vision or spectral
characteristics of a camera or film type would be chosen. So far,
I do not see any pattern or reasoning for the choices I am
seeing. Anyone have an explanation for any of these designs and
are there are recommended standards?
