I would throw the contaminated pitch out. It seems to me unlikely that
the fine grains of carbo (even 80 is still pretty small) will settle
appreciably in a material as viscous as even melted pitch. The risk of
scratches would not be worth it to me. You might be all polished out,
and then, when you have to rechannel, or microfacet, etc. expose a grain
of carbo and get a bunch of little scratches.
