Dave, I think that you're going to find that you will be putting
all kinds of hills and valleys inot the glass by the taping of
the mirror to another piece of glass.
I'd suspect that you're going to have to be very careful figuring
work taking down the hills thqt will show up with a small lap.
The big mirrors are done this way in the professiooal shops as
they sue small laps exclusively (imagine a 5 meter lap!)
As you do the work with the mirror on top, wear insulating gloves
and keep your hands moving around on the glass to minimize the
pressure in any particular area and only use enough pressure to
move the glass about.  I think that the glass needs to hold it's
own shape rather than you forcing something on i as when you
release the forces, the mirror will then move and you won't have
the shape you polished into the glass anymore.
