I've found that some old flatbed scanners have lenses that work pretty well
for web-cam based Foucault testers.  They usually have a nice flat field
and
are linear at the narrow angles needed.  People are always throwing their
old scanners away, so the price is right (and you get a stepper motor and
some front surface mirrors to boot!).
