I like the idea of using plenty of water too.  It will  help keep down
heat buildup that might otherwise lead to cracked glass, as well as
controlling the otherwise hazardous dust.  You probably would need HEPA
filters to block the glass dust in an air system.  Better to just put it
down the drain where it will eventually just dissolve and not hurt anybody.
