I did an experiment back in the '80s on my thin 24 inch where I added
weights to different positions on the mirror back (it had a traditional 18
pt support at the time).  I was able to detect 1-2 ounce weights added.
Several ounces caused major changes in the star test pattern, and a pound
simply ruined the image.
