Re: [ATM] Off center secondary, thoughts?

There are several off-axis scope designs.. Most are more complex, requiring
additional mirrors, lens, or special eyepieces. The tilting of the primary
mirror to move the image off the primary axis introduces image distortions.
A long focal length mirror keeps the distortions below objectional visual
levels. But some of the designs include additional optics to correct the
distortions...

Several off-axis designs have been mentioned in other posts. One additional
design is Stevick-Paul.

I have been toying with a design, just in thought at this time, nothing
built yet. I would like to take a 12: mirror, and put it into a 17" tube,
move the secondary off to the side vrs centered to eliminate any shadowing
of a secondary and guides. I would have to shift the image 7 inches to take
the secondary completely out of the way. Has anyone given this any thought
that they would like to share?
