One of the things I learned working on a slumped 20" diameter 1" thick f3
mirror is to fine grind the rear surface.  It really helps to eliminate
the reflections from the back surface.  Until I did this, it was almost
impossible to keep things straight.  The mirror isn't finished yet and
has been in process on and off for over ten years.  It may never get done
(just celebrated my 75th birthday) but I am still trying.  Maybe it will
turn up at the Table Mountain Star Party one of these days.
