Re: [ATM] working plate glass?

Hi Rob,

The first thing to remember is that plate glass is softer than Pyrex
type glasses.

The other is that working MOT you have watch how much and how/where you
place your hand on the glass, as the heat from your hands will cause
problems if you don't try to keep that kinda random.

Cheers, Thomas.

Subject: [ATM] working plate glass?

I have a 11", 3/4" thick plte glass blank. It was slumped to about
f/5.3
by Richard S. for me. This will be my first foray into plate glass
grinding. I've done a few smaller pyrex mirrors before.
Are there any "best practice" rules of thumb for plate?
How should I work it differently from pyrex?

Given it is thin, and slumped, I would like to work MOT as much as
possible.
I'm making a full-size tile tool and plan to work it with a thin foam
rubber mat between my hands and the mirror. I worry about heat from my
hands.
To work TOT, I will have to make a support somehow.

  Any other advice?

Thanks,
Rob
