[ATM] Steel tubing for mirror cell

If I use half-inch-wide bolts for the collimation bolts of an upcoming project, what minimum width of steel tubing should I use to construct the cell? Is 1" wide enough, or should I go to 1.25"? If I go with aluminum tubing, will I have to get something a bit wider?

Kriege and Berry recommend 3/8" bolts for mirrors smaller than 30". Mine's a 16.5", but it's full thickness (3.5") and thus heavier than the usual (50 lbs), so I'm guesstimating that I better go with the half-inch bolt.
