I've worked with several mirrors now that had the center drilled out and
each of them has had problems with the center edge turning down due to the
inability to properly press the lap and not get the center of the lap high.
I'd much rather keep the center in until the end and then do a finish pass
over the center if needed to get rid of the Twyman effect.
