[ATM] Off Topic Viewing sun with polarized material

Er, NO.  Don't do this.  NO.NO.NO.
 
Better to get some Baader Solar filter material, available from many sources.   You can buy a sheet of A4 for $25 and make a filter for your scope, binoculars and use the offcuts for your sextant.
