Probably not, depending somewhat on the amount of attenuation in the 
rest of the system.  It takes a lot of dimming to make a solar image 
safe to view for any length of time.

You can get plastic films, specifically designed and tested for solar 
viewing, from a number of sources.  I think Astro-Physics sells the 
Baader AstroSolar brand.  Astro-Physics is on line.  Google to find them.
