I don't think this is such a far out question.  Conjuntivitis at least 
is supposed to be fairly contageous.  Having had a case or two that were 
  a bit difficult to kill off, I can say that it is a real annoyance to 
have.  If you don't have decent health insurance, it can also be a bit 
expensive.  One time I had to use antibiotic eyedrops a few times a day 
plus an antibiotic compounded in petroleum jelly in my eyes at bedtime. 
  Talk about astigmatism!  And I don't think I ever got the stains out 
of the pillow cases.
