Re: [ATM] Cutting a diagonal
Yep, the old method to make diagonals is to put them in a piece of plaster
and cut at the 45 deg. angle to the face of the glass. This does take a
while as you are cutting a long distance (the length of the minor axis).
The pros have learned a lot on how to work with diamond cutters and the
putting of the glass on a mount tilted at 45 degrees to the cutter and then
cutting the glass is a lot faster, especially if you run the cutter real
fast. The glass just melts away from the cutter and the finish is usually
very fine.
Things do have to be rigid tho for the best finish as well as the diamond
disks need to run true or there will be roughness in the finished piece.
