Basically, the binocular telescope produces a much brighter image than the
binocular EP setup. The light to each EP on the binocular EP is less than
50% of the light that the scope is collecting. The binocular telescope will
also provide wider views due to the shorter path length and the usually not
needing a barlow to extend the lightpath.
On the other hand, the binocular EP will be easier to make and use as it is
a lot more compact.
