Re: [ATM] Pit Stop (Pun) - Newbie needs advice.

When you get to the finer grits (I usually start at 320 grit with this test)
you can start inspections by looking at the reflection of an incadescent
light on the surface of the mirror. Start with a very glancing reflection
and you will see the light nice and white. Increase the reflection angle
and you will note that at some point, the light reflection will turn orange.
At this angle, sweep the light reflection back and forth across the mirror
starting from the center and going to the sides. If the mirror pits are all
the same size, the light will stay at a constant color across the surface.
Don't go in and out but rather side to side as the in/out changes the angle
of the reflection. You may want to put the mirror on a table and shim it to
get the reflection right and that will hold the reflection angle to a
constant value. I'm used to doing this test so I do it with the mirror in
my hand.
