Thomas, I have to say this is a first class tip. After only about 7 long
wets with 220 Alox. I decided to wash up and examine the surface with a
25mm eyepiece. I sprinkled a few grains of the 220 on the mirror and then
began examining. I was thrilled to find that I couldnt find a single pit
larger than the grains of 220 alox. Without this tip I would have been
grinding away for hours not realising I was already done.
I think my mistake was not realising just how much the 25mm eyepiece
magnifys. What I was actually looking at were the pits from the current
grit and not from the preceding grit as I had thought.
I was also pleased with the results of a sharpie test which seems to show I
have good contact between the mirror and tool. At this rate I'll be
polishing by the weekend:)
No doubt I'll be back making myself look silly again soon but until then
thanks very much.
Clear skies,
Dave.
